W2: Summarizing and Fitting Models to Data

This is the module for Week 2. We will review some basic research design principles that will be relevant for this course and start to understand how to visualize and summarize data as well as start to think about basic descriptive statistics

Goals

  • Review research methods and design principles
  • Understand histograms and frequency distributions
  • Discuss the concept of a statistical model and how it can be used to describe data
  • Describe the concepts of central tendencies
