W6: Probabilty and Sampling

This is the module for Week 6. We will cover some basic ideas from probability theory and connect them to ideas of making inferences about populations from samples.

Goals

  • Discuss fundamental concepts in probability
  • Understand the idea of probability distributions
  • Describe sampling distributions and the basis of inferential statistics

Prep

Before Wednesday

  • Read Chapter 6 (Sections 6.1, 6.4, and 6.5) from the Gravetter & Wallnau (2017) textbook.

Before Friday

  • Read Chapter 7 from the Gravetter & Wallnau (2017) textbook.

After Friday

  • Review your Exam 1 performance
  • Decide if you want to opt-out of Problem Sets
  • Work on Problem Set #4 (due March 11)
